Project IMPACT: Test and Treat

In Project IMPACT: Test and Treat, community pharmacies throughout the country are providing patients with access to test and treat services for COVID-19, Strep, and Flu. The pharmacist explains the testing procedure and allows the patient the opportunity to ask questions. Then the pharmacist will then proceed with performing the test. While waiting for the test results, the patient will be surveyed on his/her experience and other health outcomes research topics. If the test is negative, the pharmacist will refer the patient to other care and or provide other guidance. If the test is positive, the pharmacist will prescribe and dispense treatment in accordance with an established protocol as allowed by either their state board of pharmacy or collaboration with a provider. Pharmacists will then provide the patient with medication counseling, and may follow-up with the patient within the next few days to inquire about their condition and health.
