Joyance Liao Mendoza is a dedicated third-year PharmD student at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. His academic pursuits are further enriched by certificates in Forensic Science, Business Spanish, and Spanish for Medical Professions.
During his undergraduate studies, Joyance honed his skills in science communication by serving as a Science Journalist for the Daily Texan. His outstanding academic record and commitment to his future career earned him the Hispanic Scholarship Fund award, and his over four years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician solidified his passion for the field.
Now, as a pharmacy student, Joyance continues to excel both academically and within his community. He actively participates in initiatives that promote inclusion and excellence in Pharmacy, including his role on the Opportunity and Belonging Standing Committee. His genuine interest in drug development and post-market surveillance was further demonstrated when he secured a prestigious summer fellowship with the FDA, allowing him to explore the regulatory processes that shape the pharmaceutical landscape. Additionally, his service as a JRCOSTEP for PHS at Phoenix Indian Medical Center underscored his commitment to serving underserved Native American communities.
Joyance’s career aspirations are centered on making a meaningful impact on public health, focusing on advancing healthcare within minority communities.
