Tasneem Elbashir

Robert D. Gibson Scholarship

University of Maryland Eastern Shore

My name is Tasneem Elbashir, and I am a dedicated pharmacy student at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) School of Pharmacy. I have a deep passion for serving underserved communities, which stems from my upbringing in a third-world country and my personal experiences witnessing healthcare disparities. As a student leader and APhA-ASP VP of Finance, I have worked to create impactful initiatives that promote public health, improve access to care, and address barriers within the healthcare system.

Beyond clinical outreach, I am committed to advocating for the pharmacy profession and pushing for policy changes that benefit both pharmacists and patients as the UMES student representative and co-legislator of MPC (Maryland Pharmacy Coalition). I am also dedicated to creating opportunities to support students' professional growth and development. My institutional internship and hospital rotations have further shaped my understanding of patient care and the pharmacist’s role in interdisciplinary teams.

I believe in the power of unity and perseverance to drive meaningful change. Whether through community service, advocacy, or leadership, my goal is to leave a lasting impact on both my peers and the patients I will one day serve.
