The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation has announced Meg Freiter as the 2019-2020 Knowlton Center Executive Resident in Association Management and Leadership. The residency, created by The Calvin and Orsula Knowlton Foundation through the Center for Pharmacist-Based Health Solutions, seeks to prepare the next generation of leaders in the pharmacy profession.
Freiter will begin her year-long residency in June 2019 at the APhA Foundation headquarters in Washington, DC. As the Executive Resident, she will participate in a broad range of association management experiences and initiatives.
“I am thrilled to join the APhA Foundation and embark on this unique opportunity,” said Freiter. “I look forward to working with the dedicated team of the Foundation and contributing to their efforts to advance the profession of pharmacy.”
Freiter will receive her PharmD from the South Carolina College of Pharmacy in Columbia, SC and graduate with Leadership Distinction from the University of South Carolina. She is driven to help shape the future of the profession through her interests in innovative pharmacy practices, strategic planning, leadership development and pharmacy advocacy.
As a student pharmacist, Freiter served as Class of 2019 President, Rho Chi Vice President and as a Walker Leadership Scholar, supporting her pursuit to learn new things and help others reach their full potential. In her final year, Freiter completed a legislative internship at the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) in Washington, DC and further engaged in healthcare advocacy and association management through rotations with APhA and the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA).
